Orange & Rockland Utilities Aids in Hurricane Relief Efforts Throughout Puerto Rico

Over 100 crew members of Orange & Rockland Utilities, ranging from power line workers, support personnel, and technical specialists, travelled to San Juan and surrounding areas of Puerto Rico on a mutual aid project to help restore power after Hurricanes Irma and Maria made landfall.
At the beginning of November, seventy vehicles from the fleets of Orange & Rockland Utilities and Con Edison drove to a shipping terminal in southern New Jersey, where trucks and equipment were loaded onto a cargo ship that travelled to Puerto Rico to aid in the Hurricane relief efforts. The crew members then flew down once their trucks and gear arrived on land in Puerto Rico. Those employees have dedicated so much of their time to restoring power, and have been working 16 hour days, 7 days per week.
Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. states: “Employees who were away from their families this Thanksgiving have been overwhelmed by the gratitude and thanks from the people of Puerto Rico.” See and hear more about the mutual aid project in Puerto Rico on Orange & Rockland Utilities, Inc.’s social media pages, and in this terrific article.
